Hanging Baskets

For London Design Festival 2026, contemporary design studio and gallery Slancha presents Hanging Baskets, an exhibition transforming one of Britain’s most familiar domestic objects into a series of collectible sculptural works.

A fixture of terraced houses, suburban gardens and garden centres, the hanging basket is both practical and decorative, yet its familiarity has made it almost invisible. For the exhibition, Slancha has invited 10 contemporary designers to reinterpret this overlooked typology through their own material and creative languages.

Presented throughout Awaykin’s East London store, the one-off wall-mounted works will form a series of suspended gardens, exploring the relationship between object, architecture, nature and ornament.
