Every gallery opens its doors. Few make the opening itself part of the exhibition.
This September, Charles Burnand Gallery opens its long-awaited permanent home at 20 Bruton Place, Mayfair. Coinciding with London Design Festival, Under Wraps turns the act of unveiling into part of the exhibition itself, with significant new works revealed through a choreographed sequence of automated unveilings.
The move marks a major moment of growth for the gallery, relocating from Fitzrovia into the heart of London’s historic gallery district following an expanding international programme across the United States, the Middle East, and Asia. A permanent large-scale gallery in the Cotswolds will follow in 2027.
In Under Wraps, selected works remain partially concealed beneath semi-translucent architectural sheeting before being gradually revealed, making anticipation and discovery central to the exhibition experience.
The exhibition brings together new and recent works by Niamh Barry, Peter Lane, Studio Furthermore, Kyeok Kim, Myungtaek Jung, Marc Fish, and others, spanning Art Furniture, Illuminated Sculpture, Collectable Design, and Sculpture. Highlights include a monumental stoneware wall installation by Peter Lane, illuminated bronze sculpture by Niamh Barry, a recycled aluminium console by Studio Furthermore, and a 22ct rose gold leaf chandelier by Marc Fish.
Together, the works reflect both the breadth of Charles Burnand Gallery’s programme and a new chapter for the gallery and its artists.
