An Egg, A Vessel

This year at London Design Festival, Abid Javed studio invites industry professionals, collectors and design enthusiasts to witness a physical narrative of handmade design. Entitled ‘An Egg, A Vessel’, the exhibit reimagines the Clink Street Window Gallery in the heart of London Bridge as an imagined egg-shaped vessel with a cabinet of design display; A form which is biologically symbolic for new beginnings and fitting with emerging design philosophies. From the 12th of Sept – 20th of Sept., the exhibit showcases innovative lamp designs by cross-collaboration with two designers across disciplines and complemented with architectural ceramic vessels; A table lamp com (in collaboration with Sophie Sellu), a table lamp combining a stoneware ceramic with a richly tufted tapestry lamp shade (In collaboration with Bettina Willnauer) and a series of handmade ceramic vessels (Clink Street Ceramics). Join us this September to experience the celebration of material reinvention and witness the genesis of forward-thinking design.

About

Abid Javed/Clink Street Window Gallery

Established in Clink Street in 2014, Clink Street Ceramics is a small ceramics studio in Central London established by studio potter James Sims, which aims to reconnect society’s cult of making with our urban environment. James' ceramic practice draws inspiration from his architectural and product design background, in particular his love of Post-Modernism and British subcultures from the 1980s and 90s. Clink Street Ceramics operates London’s only permanent public art display dedicated to the exhibition of pottery and ceramics, showcasing James' own work, as well as presenting a revolving programme of displays by guest ceramic artists throughout the year.
