Matisse, 1941–1954 focuses on the artist’s final years, a remarkably inventive period in which he radically expanded his visual language. Bringing together more than 300 works, the exhibition traces this late burst of creativity through paintings, drawings, illustrated books, textiles, stained glass and the gouache cut-outs that came to define his last chapter.

The presentation includes rarely seen works, many shown in France for the first time, alongside major loans from private collections and institutions including the Hammer Museum, MoMA, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Barnes Foundation and Fondation Beyeler.
