Bahamian artist Dominique Knowles’s first exhibition in Paris is presented by New York gallery Hoffman Donahue and conceived by interior designer Augusta Hoffman, in de Gournay’s Parisian apartment, during Art Basel Paris.
Informed by a reflection on the history of European painting, Dominique Knowles’s work moves between abstraction, landscape and animal representation. Within the carefully curated setting designed by Augusta Hoffman, and against the backdrop of de Gournay’s hand-painted wallpapers, his paintings enter into dialogue with another defining tradition of Parisian cultural history: the interior as a space for imagination, creation and artistic exchange.
