WHERE THE LIGHT LINGERS, LÀ OÙ LA LUMIÈRE RESTE

As part of the Korean Craft Overseas Distribution Initiative hosted by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF), the creative platform AL_SEASON is collaborating with ADÈLE Collections in Paris to present the exhibition Gyeol – Where the Light Lingers (결 – 빛이 머문 자리, là où la lumière reste).

The exhibition will be held from September 4 to 30, 2025, showcasing works by 26 Korean craft artists. It also forms part of the official program of Paris Design Week 2025.

Exhibition Overview

“Gyeol (結)” is a core concept that embodies the essence of Korean craft, symbolizing the traces of time and rhythms of emotion built up through the repetition of hand and material. This exhibition explores how the materiality, sensibility, and tradition of Korean craft can be newly interpreted within contemporary life.

Within the space of ADÈLE Collections, the “gyeol” of craft permeates light, textiles, and hanji, layering gently like the rhythm of emotion diffused in natural light. A tea gathering arranged during the exhibition invites visitors to engage in a multi-sensory dialogue with craft, light, and the senses.

In particular, the exhibition seeks to expand the use of traditional craft beyond its functional and decorative purposes, reinterpreting it on the spatial and architectural scale. The collaboration with ADÈLE Collections, a French architectural materials company, embodies an effort to situate the aesthetics of Korean craft within a modern architectural context, presenting new possibilities for craft.

The VIP program during the exhibition will bring together leading collectors, architects, and interior specialists, as well as representatives from global brands. They will be invited to directly experience and exchange around the uniqueness and contemporary value of Korean craft on the international stage.

This exhibition positions craft not as a legacy confined to the past, but as a living sensibility and a creative force that carries culture into the future. At the place “where the light lingers,” the “gyeol” of Korean craft opens pathways to new connections and possibilities.n. This immersive and sensory exhibition will extend throughout the month of September. It will bring into dialogue the materials of ADÈLE Collections with the works of Korean artisans represented by AL_SEASON.
