For New York City Design Week 2023, Swell Studio presents The Onna Collection (pronounced ‘oh-na’), the studio’s second complete collection of works exclusively shared with Love House and showcased until May 25th, 2023. Taking its name from the shortened version of colonna, meaning column in Italian, The Onna Collection’s concept is derived from the simple idea of two intersecting circles or columns. Its origin was inspired by a trip to Italy that Swell Studio’s founder, Mike White, took with his partner, Nikki Pettus. There they observed breccia pernice’s permeation and utilization in Italian art, architecture, and design. Additionally, The Onna Collection’s articulated vernacular was confirmed by a visit to the Carlo Scarpa Gavina property, located in Bologna. Herein, three choice materials are at play: Breccia pernice stone, steel, and white oak. The breccia pernice stone, sourced from quarries in Verona Italy, displays a spectrum of intense reds to soft pinks, yellows and whites, depending on its cut within each piece. The pieces which integrate steel have been hot-applied with a ‘house patina’, a signature method finish developed by Swell Studio that imbues a cool mix of chocolate brown and blue-green metallic hues. The white oak was sourced locally in the Hudson Valley.

About
Love House
Love House is an eclectic design showroom, featuring a curated roster of both up-and-coming and established contemporary designers from around the world. Launched in late 2018, Love House quickly became a go-to destination for interior designers and collectors alike. Expanding to a new location in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, with a focus on what Elle Decor described as “contemporary, collectible, and cool”, Love House showcases highly customizable made-to-order works alongside limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces. Founders and longtime friends, Jared Heinrich and Aric Yeakey, possess strong backgrounds in the visual arts, with an acute ability to curate unique objects and transform spaces. A hobby-turned-career, the duo have evolved their love of collecting personal pieces to sharing their keen eye with the design community.
