Ceramic artist and designer Sunshine Thacker debuts her first collection of upholstered furniture alongside new functional ceramic works at Love House.
With Groovitational, Sunshine scales up earlier ceramic forms in an upholstered series that marries the elegance of repetition and the nostalgia of Space Age exploration with the tantalizing tactility of fabric. Complementing the upholstered works are ceramic lighting and furniture that depart from Sunshine’s previously controlled style. These feature undulating textures with coils and snakes, experiments in painting with glaze and a raw organic nature far beyond predictability.
Sunshine’s upholstered collection includes a pair of swiveling club chairs, a sofa, tête-à-tête and a chaise with handmade ceramic drink rest. These pieces dialog with Sunshine’s less formal works on display, including three floor lamps of varying typologies, a table lamp, dining table, two side tables and a freshly minted rug created in collaboration with her son. Like a well-planned dinner party, Love House has designed the exhibition space to foster conversations between the disparate works on display. Each piece conversing with an interesting new acquaintance. Every partygoer with differences worth appreciating.

About
Love House
Love House is an eclectic design showroom, featuring a curated roster of both up-and-coming and established contemporary designers from around the world. Launched in late 2018, Love House quickly became a go-to destination for interior designers and collectors alike. Expanding to a new location in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, with a focus on what Elle Decor described as “contemporary, collectible, and cool”, Love House showcases highly customizable made-to-order works alongside limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces. Founders and longtime friends, Jared Heinrich and Aric Yeakey, possess strong backgrounds in the visual arts, with an acute ability to curate unique objects and transform spaces. A hobby-turned-career, the duo have evolved their love of collecting personal pieces to sharing their keen eye with the design community.
