Marking FUMI's first large-scale New York residency, Materials of Joy: FUMI in New York opens April 9 in collaboration with Galerie56 in their preeminent Tribeca space.

A milestone of our 2026 programme, this exhibition speaks to the core of FUMI’s ethos: showcasing works made with a devotion to traditional craft while innovating at the forefront of contemporary design. These works by the artists and designers from the gallery’s roster are united by a commitment to material histories and hand-led processes.

Gallery FUMI

There were fewer specialist galleries, fairs and rather less of an audience for unique and limited edition design works, when Sam Pratt and Valerio Capo decided to open Gallery FUMI in 2008. Both came from non-design backgrounds (banking and marketing respectively) and the only driving factor in their inception of this project was pure and unadulterated passion, not to serve the market, such as it was, but to invest in the people making the work.
