Portrait, a rising name in world-class hospitality and member of The Leading Hotels of the World, arrived in Milan after Rome and Florence. More than a hotel, it unfolds as an immersive experience - welcoming guests, travelers and locals alike. Born from the vision of the Ferragamo family’s Lungarno Collection and brought to life by Architect Michele De Lucchi and his studio AMDL Circle, it’s a Milanese destination where authentic Italian hospitality meets the art of living through style, cuisine, wellness and culture.
Since St. Charles Borromeo established it in the 16th century, its essence has expanded through the centuries, quietly sculpted by time. Today, through Francesco Maria Richini’s magnificent Baroque archway, a grand piazza reveals itself - over 2,800 square meters of open beauty. It forms a graceful promenade linking Corso Venezia to Via Sant’Andrea where a 17th-century colonnade comes alive with the gentle rhythm of boutiques, gastronomy and wellness.

From the first to the fourth floor the private heart of Portrait Milano unfolds in 73 rooms and suites, where 53 studios and deluxe rooms meet 20 exquisite suites. Each a quiet sanctuary wrapped in enduring elegance and the distinctive style of Architect Michele Bönan - whose hand shapes every Lungarno Collection interior with poetic precision. On its second floor, 27 rooms and suites open onto serene loggias bathed in light - inviting spaces to linger with a cup of tea or rest after a day’s wander. Some overlook the secret garden, while a select few are graced with splendid private terraces.

Its classic style recalls the charm of Milanese residences, reimagined with modern touches drawn from Tuscan craftsmanship. Italian walnut - with its subtle oriental echoes - evokes the era’s love of essential form. Leather handles and Florentine boiserie - woven with rattan and rich in rhythmic lines - pay homage to the Ferragamo family’s heritage. Door frames are carved from peperino, a volcanic stone. Floors are laid in natural larch - their running planks evoking the warmth of Northern European homes and castles. While bathrooms shine in luminous Carrara marble or bold compositions of Red Porphyry - the emperors’ stone - and Breccia Medicea. A soft harmony of red and green threads through the space, hues long rooted in Milanese tradition. Cardinal red, gracing subtle accents, is a reverent nod to St. Borromeo - the cardinal who founded this seminary in 1564.
"My family and I are honoured to have had the opportunity to add a new chapter to the long history of this extraordinary space. Our Portraits were born with the strong desire to enhance the quality of the places in which they reside. In Milan this is further possible thanks to the collaboration of strongly desired partners chosen by us, who share the same values and vision" shares Leonardo Ferragamo, President of Lungarno Collection.

The Piazza unites every partner, a shared stage visible to all. On its northern side - Portrait Milano brings its own rhythm with 10_11. A relaxed yet elegant haven that flows from bar to restaurant, through a lush garden and an evocative loggia. Here, Italian tradition is served with emotion and memory, while the art of mixology reinvents the Milanese aperitivo with flair and finesse.

On the east side, Beefbar - entrusted to founder Riccardo Giraudi - has an Italian DNA blending historical grandeur with contemporary chic. Dark walnut paneling, marble tables and sophisticated design recall Milan’s illustrious past. A celebration of exceptional beef sourced globally, its menu balances tradition with innovation and a masterful cocktail selection completes the experience with impeccable precision and artistry. While nestled in the courtyard, Rumore awakens at sunset - a tribute to Raffaella Carrà and the opulent golden age of Italian spectacle. Imagined by Giraudi, it channels the glamour of Studio 54 and Rome’s Piper Club with the allure of vintage piano bars and burlesque. Plush velvet, mirrors and a glittering disco ball set the stage for live music and refined revelry. Shareable plates and expertly crafted cocktails - featuring rare spirits and fine champagnes - complete this experience.

Portrait Milano is further home to a pioneering wellness destination with The Longevity Spa - where cutting-edge protocols guide one toward harmony of body, mind and beauty. Nearby, SO-LE Studio - Maria Sole Ferragamo’s visionary flagship - breathes new life into forgotten materials, transforming them into sculptural, sustainable jewelry. Completing the scene is Antonia, where a curated mix of global and emerging designers extends the legacy of its iconic Brera boutiques into this dynamic new setting.

Each Portrait Hotel weaves two tales: one of the city’s soul where it belongs and one of Salvatore Ferragamo - the visionary whose legacy inspires every detail. At Portrait Milano echoes of history dance with the rhythms of modern life. As Michele De Lucchi reflects “the new should emerge in the old not with preponderance, but by integrating and serving it, with the aim of enhancing what is already beautifully hidden by the old walls…”
