Nestled along the storied Via Sistina on the Spanish Steps, Hotel de la Ville - Rocco Forte’s Roman sanctuary - invites you to discover the heart of la Città Eterna. Just a breath away from the serene gates of Villa Borghese, it offers an unparalleled point for exploring Rome on foot, with iconic monuments and coveted shopping streets within a leisurely stroll.
Steeped in 18th-century allure, it first captivated the European aristocracy during the era of the Grand Tour - swiftly becoming a cherished retreat. Transformed into a hotel in the 1920’s and expanded mid-century, it began a luminous new chapter in 2019, reimagining its grandeur for the modern age by Rocco Forte after a masterful 2.5-year restoration.
Architect Tommaso Ziffer in collaboration with Design Director for Rocco Forte Hotels Olga Polizzi, recreated this historic palazzo as a tribute to its past - a contemporary tapestry of spaces, echoing the cultural soul of a bygone era. Each atmosphere is poetically composed as a subtle nod to the richness of the Grand Tour era, inviting you to journey through time with every room.

The building was weaved together with the meticulous touch of artisans - handcrafted wallpapers by Rubelli and Dedar, sumptuous local fabrics and vintage tapestries by Zardi & Zardi, each detail a quiet but refined celebration of heritage and craft. Tucked within the hotel’s embrace - the inner courtyard offers a tranquil escape infused with the spirit of Italian life. Garden designer George Carter reimagined the space with 17th-century geometry, uniting three buildings around obelisks, moody green-and-gold hues and soft lighting recalling the romantic glow of the Grand Tour.
