Roberto Lugo’s American Crib: What’s Happening? invites visitors into an imagined living space shaped by the artist’s Philadelphia roots, cultural heritage, and sharp reflections on American life. More than a traditional retrospective, the exhibition brings together Lugo’s work across pottery, pop culture, humor, and social commentary, using craft as a way to address identity, mental health, social justice, and the resilience of underrepresented communities. The exhibition is part of Radical Americana, a broader, multi-location project connecting art and cultural institutions across Philadelphia.
