Pangea Split

DUDD HAUS, the Philadelphia Design Collective is delighted to introduce Mound, our newest collective member and the studio behind our next show, Pangea Split. Opening on Friday, October 9 in conjunction with the DesignPhiladelphia Festival, Pangea Split will present recent painterly and structural experimentations within the Laminar line of epoxy resin furniture by Mound.

Like a cave waiting centuries to get painted, Laminar is the product of hand-applied layers of calcified liquid deposits. Laminar lets epoxy do what epoxy wants to do: pool and drip, dribble, drip and pool. Sopping wet cells split and divide as tendrils of colors emerge like a mold.. Dynamic structures contort around ideas of furniture, pushing and stretching, forms break and reassemble anew. Laminar flow is the appearance of arrested energy, flow becoming structure. Tectonic movements so slow, they are felt as stasis. Just another day living in Pangea, split.
