“Metallic Reverie” by Jean and Oliver Pelle An exhibition of introspective lighting works
September 11–October 14, 2026 Paris Design Week
Opening Reception - Sep 10, 6-9pm" at 28 Rue Jacob
LE 28 at Triode 28 rue Jacob 75006 Paris, France
Jean and Oliver Pelle (PELLE) present “Metallic Reverie,” an introspective exhibition of new sculptural lighting works created in collaboration with Triode for LE 28, the gallery’s new exhibition space adjacent to its historic showroom on rue Jacob in the heart of Paris’s 6th arrondissement.
As the inaugural studio to exhibit at LE 28, PELLE transforms the intimate venue into a “jewel box” for a deeply personal exploration of memory, material, landscape, and form. For Jean and Oliver Pelle, the exhibition marks a new chapter in their ongoing creative dialogue, one that embraces their individual perspectives while revealing the shared sensibilities of their practice. Each designer presents a distinct series of handmade lighting works inspired by personal experience and by the world around them.
Jean Pelle’s Fountains comprises four illuminated sculptures inspired by her enduring fascination with landscape and the fragile beauty of the natural world. Constructed from hand-wrought wire and hand-painted sheet-metal bas-reliefs, the works exist as both observation and recollection, translating the movements of grasses, the sea, and city terrain into delicate sculptural forms. Their irregular, painted, and metallic surfaces evoke landscapes not as fixed places, but as fleeting impressions.
Oliver Pelle’s Hopper series draws on an early fascination with the abstract language of structural engineering, based on memories of visiting his father’s office, where large-scale drawings became expansive fields of lines and geometric notation. Intricately handcrafted from aluminum and glass tubes, the compositions resist recognizable forms and conventional typologies, becoming objects that exists between structure, sculpture, and light. Deliberately open-ended, the Hopper works invite interpretation.
Throughout the exhibition, Jean’s Fountains and Oliver’s Hopper works alternate within the space, creating a visual dialogue between two distinct approaches to sculpture and illumination. Their sketches, drawings, and a selection of books of the artists, architects, and theorists who have influenced the designers accompany the works, offering a further glimpse into the references behind their practice.
“We’re interested in presenting the singularity of our design work as individuals, while also exploring our creative partnership through the materiality of various metals. These objects are a snapshot of the kind of work that we are interested in pursuing at this moment in time. They are the next natural steps in our ongoing dialogue about art and design in our practice.” - Oliver Pelle

About
Jean & Oliver Pelle - PELLE / LE 28 - Triode Paris
About Jean and Oliver Pelle – PELLE PELLE is a design studio founded by Jean and Oliver Pelle, whose work exists at the intersection of art, craft, and design. Working as complementary counterparts, Jean and Oliver bring distinct perspectives to a shared practice, where a dialogue between contrast and cohesion informs both their creative process and the objects they produce. Their work balances the precision of the constructed with the expressive qualities of organic form, resulting in pieces that are at once handcrafted and machine-made, rigorous and poetic, painterly and abstract. Trained as architects at Yale University as well as practicing in the field for years, the founders draw upon distinct backgrounds, Jean as the daughter of a sculptor and Oliver as the son of a structural engineer, to shape a practice grounded equally in intuition and discipline. Drawing from personal observations of the natural world, historical art movements, geometry, and form, Jean’s and Oliver’s work distills these influences into objects designed to be lived with. Based in Brooklyn, New York, PELLE operates from a 12,000-square-foot studio that brings design, workshop, and exhibition under one roof. This integrated environment allows ideas to move fluidly from conception to realization, reinforcing the studio’s hands-on approach and commitment to craftsmanship. Triode was the first showroom in Paris to promote the incoming young generation of American Designers. Today, most of these names are internationally recognized. Triode houses both contemporary design pieces, mostly from American Designers, and re-editions of pieces from household names such as Finn Juhl. This eclectic medley of American Design, and exclusive lighting fixture designs comes together to create a harmonious collection and a unique point of view, the soul of Triode. LE 28: Le 28 is a new space created by Triode adjacent to its showroom at 28 rue Jacob, in the heart of Paris’s 6th arrondissement. This new venue offers a unique approach to exhibiting design. Neither a gallery nor a showroom, it has been conceived as an intimate space where designers are invited to reveal their personal worlds. Within this setting, designers will present not only their creations but also the sources of inspiration that inform their work: photographs, personal objects, drawings, archives, videos, books, materials, and other items that reflect their creative process. The result is an immersive experience that offers a more personal and nuanced perspective on their practice.
