The New York Edit

Design Hotels returns to NYCxDesign with The New York Edit, a public exhibi- tion of collectible work by New York- based designers, open May 15–20, at 11 Howard, the design-forward SoHo hotel and longtime member. Developed in partnership with luxury online design and home decor retailer Lumens, the exhibition is driven by a shared vision to spotlight the next generation of New York creative talent. The installation is curated by Simple Flair, the internation- ally rooted creative company founded in Milan, whose practice has spent a decade connecting the global design community across continents.

The designers on show, among them a number drawn from Lumens’ portfolio, include In Common With, Roll & Hill, SIN, PELLE, Rosie Li Studio, and Forma Rosa Studio, Jesse Shaw, Umberto Bellardi Ricci, and more — representing the material and craft that define New York’s independent design scene, from Brooklyn institu- tions to newer voices working across lighting, ceramics, and objects. The edit centers on lighting as both medium and narrative device. In New York, light is never neutral — it defines the city’s visual identity, at once cinematic and raw, artificial and atmospheric.
