Hotel Villa Flori — A Legacy by the Lake

On the shores of Lake Como, Hotel Villa Flori is an elegant 19th-century villa discreetly hidden behind two majestic Lebanon cedars. Surrounded by lush greenery, it pairs timeless historic charm with an idyllic lakeside setting just moments from Como's town centre.

Behind Villa Flori’s storied façade lies a rich historical narrative. Expanded in 1859 by Marquis Raimondi as a wedding gift for his daughter on her marriage to Garibaldi, the villa still preserves the room once occupied by the “Hero of Two Worlds”, complete with original 19th-century furnishings, decorative stuccoes, floral frescoes, wooden floors and boiseries. Purchased by Alessandro Flori, Marquis of Serramezzana, in 1865 and entrusted to the Passera family’s LarioHotels Group since 1958, it continues to embody Lake Como’s enduring legacy.

Villa Flori’s hospitality unfolds across 53 rooms, many framed by private terraces overlooking the serene waters of Lake Como. The Raimondi Restaurant celebrates Italy’s culinary heritage with carefully crafted dishes served in a remarkable lakeside setting, while the Lounge Bar pairs contemporary design with panoramic views, offering the ideal backdrop for relaxed lunches, indulgent bites and signature cocktails. At the heart of the estate lies the Gran Lago Suite, a private “villa within a villa” surrounded by a 200 sqm garden, where 180 sqm of thoughtfully designed spaces, modern amenities and breathtaking vistas create an intimate retreat for private escapes or exclusive events.

At Villa Flori, Ristorante Raimondi unfolds as a captivating culinary stage on the shores of Lake Como, where flavour, design and landscape converge. Led by Chef Fabio Castiglioni, the restaurant presents a refined, light cuisine that celebrates Italian identity, seasonality and the authentic essence of each ingredient through thoughtful techniques and sustainable choices. Set on the garden level of the villa, with a luminous interior and a breathtaking pieds-dans-l’eau terrace, Raimondi offers a sweeping panorama stretching from Cernobbio’s distinguished villas and gardens to the charming villages of Blevio and Torno, the Baradello tower and the green slopes of Brunate. As the light transforms the lake — from golden sunsets to silver moonlit reflections — the experience takes on a timeless quality. Accessible by private dock, every arrival is intimate and memorable, while Castiglioni’s menu reinterprets Italian traditions with contemporary sensitivity, guided by the belief that true innovation lies in honouring the past.

The interiors of Ristorante Raimondi have been thoughtfully renewed, preserving their neoclassical soul while embracing a contemporary sensibility through carefully selected furnishings and natural tones. Tall mirrors dissolve the boundary between villa and landscape, while Versailles-style wood flooring and a palette of greens create an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication. A graceful staircase leads to the bar overlooking the dining room and garden, providing the perfect setting for a pre- or post-dinner moment. Steeped in history and romance, with echoes of Giuseppe Garibaldi and Marchesina Giuseppina Raimondi within its 19th-century walls, the restaurant offers an evocative backdrop for intimate dinners, celebrations and memorable private occasions.
