In Common With is a New York–based design studio founded in 2018 and led by Nick Ozemba and Felicia Hung. The studio works across lighting and objects, with a focus on how materials and form shape the experience of a space. Rather than designing standalone pieces, In Common With approaches its work in relation to the environments its objects will live in. The studio produces its work through long-term partnerships with small ateliers across the United States, many of which have been developed alongside the brand. In several cases, these ateliers have grown from a single artisan into teams of ten or more, supporting specific skills and ways of making. This approach allows the work to scale without becoming anonymous, maintaining a close connection between design, material, and production. In Common With creates pieces meant to be used and lived with, gaining character over time.
