Soft Monuments

Pastina, the Rome-based design studio founded in 2016 by Domenico Santoro and Francesca Puddu, unveils Soft Monuments at Lake Como Design Festival 2026 (Contemporary Design Selection, Villa Saporiti, Como - Italy), from 12–20 September.

Inspired by the ancient monuments of Rome, Soft Monuments explores the relationship between scale, perception and the body, translating the sculptural weight and generous proportions of classical monuments into a soft, continuous mass. An upholstered body assembled through the aggregation of padded volumes, its scale exceeds that of domestic furniture without becoming architecture.

For the festival, Soft Monuments will be presented in a special edition upholstered in Groma, the new textile developed by Pastina in collaboration with BYBORRE.
