Uttu’s Death is part of an ongoing material experiment that explores mutation through the relationship between the human body and an inanimate object.
Named after Uttu, the Mesopotamian goddess of weaving, the project adopts her as the designer's alter ego rather than a mythological subject. With each iteration, Uttu takes on a new material body while traces of textile remain
In Uttu’s Death, perforated metal mesh replaces fabric, translating ideas of weaving into a harder material language. The previous ceramic works were dressed in glaze; here, that skin is removed.
What remains is a two-metre exposed skeleton.
