Vanitas in Use II

Vanitas in Use II marks the second chapter of Innenkreis’s ongoing exploration of transience, mortality, and the objects that inhabit everyday life. Opening August 27, 2026, the exhibition brings together contemporary furniture, sculpture, ceramics, and glass alongside historical works that extend the vanitas tradition into the domestic environment.

Featured artists include Lærke Ryom, Pettersen Hein, Charlotte Moreno Kølkjær, Et Arrangement, Anne Jaedicke, and Indio Möglich, with works ranging from ruched leather seating and sculptural concrete to ceramic vessels, engraved glass, and beetle-marked oak. Historical pieces - including a Baroque gilded glory, a Donaumonarchie writing table, and a Gothic Revival chair - are placed throughout the exhibition in dialogue with the contemporary works, creating a layered reflection on use, decay, permanence, and time.
