The Future Perfect presents Dark Forest, Silver Moon by Ian Collings at the Goldwyn House in Los Angeles, marking the artist’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery.
Featuring a new body of work, the exhibition explores how materials and forms shift under moonlight, using light, shadow and silhouette to reveal unexpected shapes and narratives. The works invite a reconsideration of how materials are perceived, manipulated and transformed.
The exhibition also marks a return to wood in Collings’ practice, with carved root burls, tree cavities and cast tin forming an ongoing dialogue between material, landscape and light. Sculptural objects, cabinets and lighting emerge through an attention to natural processes, growth and the changing geometry of darkness.
