A–POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE

A–POC, short for A Piece Of Cloth, refers to the design and manufacturing system introduced by Issey Miyake in Paris in 1998. Conceived as an integrated approach to clothing production, the system allows all parts of a garment to be woven into a single piece of cloth. Launched in 2021, A–POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE builds on this legacy, exploring the wider potential of the A–POC process through a more collaborative, socially engaged lens. Led by designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae with a team of engineers, the brand works across disciplines to expand ideas around design, making, and the relationship between creator and wearer.

For its 3daysofdesign debut, A–POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE presents new lamps from TYPE-XIII Atelier Oï, an ongoing collaboration with Swiss design studio atelier oï that began in 2024. The project brings together “a piece of cloth” and “a piece of wire” to create a series of lighting objects. New colours for the portable O Series take inspiration from nature, with pleated fabric shades that can be removed from the wire frame and exchanged. The adaptable design introduces a playful, personal element to domestic lighting, inviting visitors to experience how colour can shift the atmosphere of a space.
